It seems as if someone has just been lying in the bed, the way the covers are lying there half thrown back. The desk space is also empty. The chair is still slightly inclined, as if it had just been vacated. Perhaps, one might think, the next moment someone will come back, sit down, balance the chair on its back legs, think, then bend forward to write.

One can still hear the footsteps in the room like an echo and in bed, too, something shines like a shiny imprint, a flickering trail. Between the bed and the desk, there remains only a remnant which goes back and forth in the black space in between, always following the same path.

With “Auf der Stelle”, Zeno Gries creates an immersive installation that suggest a virtual theatre. Even if the figure remains intangible, one can still step into the room, watch it, stand next to it or even take its place and perhaps share the dreams that flicker on the wall.
